About the event

· THE EXPERIENCE ·

Tierra de a Caballo is an experience held every last weekend of February. It was created to be a unique event, where each year a special route is opened exclusively for the participants — an experience designed to be enjoyed with family, friends, partners, or even to meet new people who share a deep connection with horses.

The experience begins with a half-day welcome in the afternoon (February 20) and continues with three days of horseback expedition (February 21, 22, and 23). During these days, we ride across cattle and farming lands, passing through places that are usually not open to tourism but that welcome us as hosts to share their stories—an essential part of what makes this event special.

· ACCOMMODATION AND LOGISTICS ·

Accommodation is in camps that move along with the event’s advance team. The staff transports all participants’ belongings so everyone can comfortably ride with only their essentials for the day. Each participant must bring their own personal camping gear and the items listed in the Equipment List*. Camps will be our resting places at the end of each day, where food, fire, music, and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere await—perfect for unwinding, playing, and sharing with fellow riders.

*Please note that accommodation for the welcome day (February 20) is not included, so you will need to arrange your own lodging for that night.

This is a rural experience. Camps may not always have full facilities; we will do our best to provide water and restrooms, but please be aware that comforts typical of city life may not always be available. We might not offer five-star luxury—but we promise nights filled with a million more stars.

· PARTICIPANTS ·

Most participants are connected to the rural or equestrian world, with prior experience and familiarity with horses. This shared bond creates a relaxed atmosphere, where the route is guided and the horses managed by our team of tropilleros (horse handlers). They also provide horses for those with a FULL ticket. Camaraderie defines this journey—many participants have a lifetime of experience with horses, while others are just beginning. Children, youth, and adults all contribute their spirit and knowledge, building a community always ready to lend a hand when needed.

· LOCATION ·

The event takes place in the Aysén Region, in Chilean Patagonia. The nearest airport is Balmaceda, located about 45 minutes from Coyhaique, the regional capital. When the route is officially announced, more details about the exact location will be shared to help you plan your trip and any pre- or post-event stays.

· TICKET TYPES ·

There are two ticket options:

FULL Ticket: Includes everything offered by the event plus a saddled horse provided by the organization. Each horse is assigned by a tropillero based on the participant’s information (experience level, size, etc.).
